This year has been a trial for both me as an individual, my marriage, and my health.

Regardless of the trials this year I’m grateful.

I’m thankful to be able to fill syringes for my J tube and have insurance coverage through my health struggles
I’m grateful for my critter, my shadow, my partner-in-crime, my cuddle bug
I’m grateful for handsome hubby who is always there to fill formula feed bags, push my wheelchair, hold my hand during rough doctors appointments, advocate for me, pick up prescriptions any time of day, sneak me the occasional French fry, dry my tears, and encourage me on bad days

Yesterday was the first Thanksgiving where I was not be able to eat. I was nervous and a bit sad, but looked forward to seeing family, cooking, and enjoying all the traditional Thanksgiving smells. As I look back now I realize how much food is not what the holiday is about. It’s inspired me to challenge myself to reflect daily on the blessings from God I have to be thankful for.

Thanksgiving is a perfect day to take a short pause to reflect on all you are grateful for. What are you thankful for this year?

To all my Spoonie and Tubie friends wishing you many extra spoons and gratefulness for the holiday.
